Can't live your life afraid of something that might happen. If you really can't handle it, it would probably be safer for all of us if you did pack it up.
It's called defensive driving. Every time you crank that machine up, you have to go into 'defensive mode'.
I hope you don't quit, but if has become too much for you, maybe you should.

You must have known people were killed and or injured whilst riding before you got a bike.

In the end it is your loss.
He better stay out of those cars too. I heard people get killed in them too.

Aye the whole thing is a risk, but I really like the thought about understanding the risk and bringing to an acceptable level. If it's no longer fun, then definetly stop riding. No point torturing yourself, but do be careful not to get frozen with fear either that can be quite devestating in itself.

Take care, hope you choose to continue riding but I'd understand if you didn't.

Good one Paul, Yup that what I would do stop reading but not smoking and riding.

I also have seen so many horrid images from motorcycle accident, heard a lot of dead bikers. a couple close calls myself. think about falling off the cliff while doing canyon riding or get hit by a speedy car of FWY. I almost quit once but I just love riding so much and promise to make myself safe as much as possible by staying alret every time I'm riding, pratice harder to become a safer rider and don't do stupid think while riding.

BTW my GF said if I got into accident (on my bike) I will have to quit riding. and also I have to quit smoking when we get married which will be next month  . that is call the power of GF/Wife, huh?

Tell her that if she gets into an accident she'll have to quit driving.

I think its a good mix of both. Be alert and aware of your surroundings but still you can't be too paranoid. Whats the use of doing something that youre supposed to enjoy, but you just can't enjoy it?

If you don't enjoy what ever your doing, it's time to find something else.

I still feel fear everytime I have a ride trip to canyon or someplace i've never been to. I even have a nightmare about me falling off the cliff. But once I'm on the bike, I make myself feel confident of my ability and concentrate on only riding.

No risk, No reward. You determine your own level of risk you are willing to take and if the reward is worth the risk. Good Luck in your decision.
