Yesterday I bought my first used bike. It is a 1993 Kawasaki Vulcan 750 with 52000km on it. It looked to be in good shape and the seller said that he would safety it for me. It was priced at $2200 and I left a $500 non refundable deposit. I'm supposed to pick it up next week after the safety. A friend of mine told me that it has too many kilometers on it and that it wont be very reliable. My question is: Am I being ripped off with this deal or is it a good one?

Bike sounds OK to me. What "safety it" means, I have no idea. Hope you haven't just lost $500.
55K on the ode is fine as long as the bike was maintained. You should have asked for maintenance proof, to be sure. You should have also told the guy you would "safety it" yourself.
I sold a Suzuki 850 with close to 70K on it and it ran fine because I maintained it well.
Good luck.

Doesn't sound like to bad of a deal. Did you check it out in person? Did you look for all the normal stuff, oil on the forks, good tires, make sure it fired up and everything? If it's in good shape now it'll last you a LONG time.
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.
