$15,995 - $17,915 depending on color, plus you have to deal with a Harley salesman. Nope, they're just as expensive as I think. Plus, the one I sat on was uncomfortable.

I'm sorry... I didn't know you could get a mean streak for $8000. The Night Rod is a little cheaper than the VRSCA. Well like most Harleys you change things a little, like the seat. I rode 1100 miles plus in 22 hours on an Iron Butt ride, very comfy. If you go to the right dealer you could most likely pick one for 14 or so. but you said it right the V-Rod is the Power Cruiser. If you name a bike mean you would think it would have some real power... you know the kind that would just burn up the track. But to each his own... for some a 125 eliminator is just what they want and what they need. enjoy the ride.

Hinds of Delaware (Ohio) had an '04 Mean Streak and an '04 Suzuki Marauder 1600, both on sale for $9k. Last I looked guys were paying premiums for the VRod over and above the MSRP.

Here we go with the name again...

All I said was the VRod is too expensive (for me) and uncomfortable (for me). I don't understand why you find that offensive. I don't make a whole lot of money, and I'm a single dad with three kids. If you have the means to buy a designer bike, more power to ya. And if the chassis is comfortable to you, thank the Lord, don't bark at me for not being built the same. The VRod still gets props for being the faster bike, but bang-for-the-buck plays a big part in most consumers' purchasing habits.

Cheers,

I disagree... the manufacture does not give you a lot of facts about their bikes and so professional riders take these bikes out and put them to the test and give you their opinion. Should that be your only research when looking for a bike? No! Talk to those that own them, test ride one, but to disclude a professional's opinion is not smart. Not everyone can "judge that sort of thing" on their own.

Dude... I like your bike... again everybody has to chose the bike that is for them. The main thing is we are both on two wheels and lovin it. Beleive me I'm not well to do. I just found a great deal with one of the local Harley dealers. It was in 2003 and the dealer was selling them for $3000 under list. Really, enjoy the ride. There is not a better way to travel!

You drop by a Mean Streak thread to say the following...
diggerv wrote:The mean streak seems to lack the mean. If you just want a bike to putt around on it might meet your needs.

...and wonder why the owners become defensive???

Taken from the "good article" you posted:
motorcyclecruiser.com wrote:"The V-Rod does have one traditional Harley shortcoming: the handling is disappointing, especially since the bike is so light. Although it has good ground clearance when leaned over and responds readily to steering inputs, the suspension is unimpressive, and the cornering manners display an unsteadiness similar to the Warrior, presumably for the same reasons. It loses more ground to the least comfortable riding position, one that also doesn't mesh well with the bike's high-performance potential. The feet-forward stance combines with a high handlebar to place the rider in an awkward position for hard launches or strong acceleration. The 'Rod was the hardest bike to get away from the starting line at the strip without spinning the rear tire. It was also the least comfortable for day-to-day riding..."
But, to each his own...and all that jazz...

Dude... take a ride or something... I thought the article was a good article for someone to read if they were thinking about buying any of these bikes. None of these bikes are "perfect". I was mislead when I was shopping for a bike. I knew what I wanted and took a hard look at the meanie and found it didn't have the power i was looking for and when I sat on it, it made me feel like i was driving an 18 wheeler or something. It was wide and tall. I just think you should get all the info you can, within reason of course. Take a chill pill. I will not respond anymore on "your" meanie thread.

I don't take issue with the article. It was a test of straight line performance and that's the only thing that mattered in the score book. For that reason, the Mean Streak lost and earned its place (incidentally, the article was written before the bump in displacement in '04). What I do take issue with is your clever condescension disguised as objective observation. Saying it's a good bike to just "putt around on" and then comparing it to an Eliminator 125 is downright arrogant, and is no-doubt something you picked up from the Harley forums. Straight line performance is meaningless at Deal's Gap.

I believe I did (and I'm sure Loonette did as well). I read every "the Mean Streak is the slowest of the bunch" review that was available as of July '04 and happened to notice that, despite all the disdain for the mill, no one ever faulted the handling, brakes, or ergonomics - something every other bike got hammered for. It's a whole lot easier to pursuade more power out of an engine than it is to correct chassis shortcomings.

It's not my server nor my forum. Do what you like. Just don't expect any of the members here to sit idly by while you insult their ride. I got jumped just for saying I thought the Sportster was ugly, and that's just a subjective opinion.
