Thanks again for all of the replies. This is definitely the most newb-friendly message board I've been on, hands down.

I plan on taking the MSF course as soon as time allows and am currently searching for a used 250 in my area. Anyone have a link to a database of used bikes? I've tried using google and searching the classifieds in my area, but no luck.

Thats a good bike to learn on, but the price is way too high. You can get a new one (2006) for $300 more. I would guess he's prolly throwing in a helmet for that price. Don't take the helmet and don't pay more than $2300.
If he's not willing to bargain look somewhere else.

Try craigslist.com for used motorcycles. That's where I found mine at a good price. Avoid dealers they overprice used bikes.

If you read the page I sent you in my first reply, you'll see a list of links for places you can find used bikes.
