Look around for a slightly older one that isn't worth as much. I got my 84 Interceptor VF700F pretty cheap cheap. It has a claimed 80bhp (around 70ish to the wheel). Handles the corners very well. It may not be as good as brand new sport bikes, but I have a hard time not loosing my buddies that ride newer 6RR's. Then again, I'm more of a twisty type guy. It has great acceleration! but will probably only hit 120mph. But I don't really see the point to go that fast on public roads anyway, and it is fun to rev through the gears and not hit 100 in second gear.
Not only that, because it isn't worth as much, and is a bit older, it is only $360 dollars per year for full coverage insurance, and I am 22.
I like the cheap route, and I think it is just as fun

Plus, with an older bike, it is usually pretty easy to find performance mods for them.
