I don't see any protection that chap will provide but at least better than plain pair of jeans. The main reason I got chap is to be able to ride in cold weather more comfortable and espically in rain.
Wait wait wait, are you trying to argue cotton denim has comprable abrasion protection to leather?

I finally found some chaps that actually look ok. I was also one of those people that didn't like the way they looked on me...until I found a pair that fits well. It makes a huge difference.
When it rains I wear a pair of lightweight rainpants over the jeans under the chaps.
Now if only they didn't have a HD logo.

My mom made her own chaps and they are awesome (and she doesn't "work with leather"... or at least she didn't). It's not that hard. Plus she just bought long leather coats at thrift stores and poof.. you have custom chaps for about 20 bucks.

I'm not as creative - I bought mine *lol* On that note... does leather shrink??? I went to wear them the other day for the first ride after winter and could barely get the darn things on! I really hope the effect was them shrinking (and not me 'growing'!!)

My friend living in Vancouver has been bragging about going out riding every day. Surely you've had a chance by now!
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

I've actually been very sick for a week. No work, no fun. Just the internet to keep me occupied between sleeping and coughing. I've been out riding quite a bit, but forgot to get the camera out until I was home.

Are you hoping to see him in his chaps and nothing else? This thread is better off WITHOUT pics :)
