Anyone want to shed some light on this?

Not everyone is built the way you are. AND, riding a bike isn't about comfort for everyone. If that was true everyone would be riding goldwings... or in a car.
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

they are not. And it's hard to turn on those bikes too. They are really not meant for riding. They are meant for parking in front of a bar and showing off.

I think the same thing about dual headlights.

And I'm sure Wizzard will have something to say about that.

I should point out to you gentlemen that the same time that brought us apehangers brought us flares, which should be enough said.

The person on the forum most likely to be able to tell us why ape hangers is Wizzard, I am hoping he will be along directly as I am actually interested.

Because they look cool! :) And if one bulb burns out the other will see you home. (I knew I'd think of a pratical reason!)

In NJ ape hangers (at least the ones I would consider to be real ape hangers) are illegal... and probably for a good reason... unsafe or...

I was at a swap meet today. Hundreds and hundreds of bikers. A guy with his custom bike (his lady riding pillion) that had ape hanger bars and extended forks....sounding like it desparately needed a tune up and a muffler, stalled. while hundreds of folks were looking on.
I guess what made it so funny, was that he kept revving that thing so loud, over and over and it sounded like it wanted to stall..and then it did.

gotta love it when the show offs have it back fire.....

I remember seeing one person who had been wearing green sport leathers in the bar all night, at closing time go get his green crotch rocket bike, drive infront of the bar, do a little burn of the rear tire... wobble and fall over.....

Best...... Stunt.....EVER! *L
