c'mon guys, my question was about the stock bike.

you don't have to remind me about riding skill in the equation.

anyway... as long as i keep my maintenance throttle and avoid trail braking i should be fine leaning very low even w/ the stock parts.

this info will give me confidence in avoiding the mistake i had before when i got surprised by gravel and a decreasing radius turn.

the slide was not so bad but instead of pushing to lean more, i attempted to straighten the bike and brake. i need to trust the bike more.

yeah, you need a bike that you CAN trust more, not something that you cant trust cause it WILL up and bite you when you dont do everything perfect....

great news to me!

the gixxer600 K6 comes stock w/ a steering damper and it also has a slipper clutch.

yeah, cause those two are GREAT at teaching you the skills to ride well..... the steering damper will make it so you dont need to learn how to stabalize the front well, and the slipper clutch will make it so you think nothing of dropping 3 or 4 gears at once into a corner... good luck verm!

sounds good to me.

anything that make cornering easier and safer is good enough for me.

less stuff i have to think about and more time to think about other stuff like lines, braking points, apex, acceleration zones, etc.

and besides i heard...

steering dampers can reduce tank slappers, but not totally prevent it.

and slipper clutches doesn't prevent high sides.

so having those doesn't excuse me from practing more control but it will help and i like that.

you obvously missed the point. yes those are great things to have on a bike once you have the skills to ride a regular bike and are confident in your cornering and such. as it is you are going to be relying on them much more than you would if you didnt start with those.
hey, guess what, you can mount up the gsxr plastics to just about any sportish bike! there you go, have yourself a gs500 that looks exactly like a gixxer6... you got your oh so important looks like a cool bike, AND a bike thats going to teach you how to ride. its like how bush said...

Yes because having something on your bike that helps build your confiedence will in no way help you become a better rider, Verm maybe you should buy a 800lb bike from the 50's then you can really learn to ride, Then you can move up to a GS500 and tehn after about 15 years you might be ok for a 600.
