FYI, here is a now "infamous" helmet review article from Motorcyclist magazine. The long and short is that their tests favor helmets that are DOT only over Snell approved.
Not saying they are right, not saying they are wrong. But the article is a good read, and has a response from Snell as well.

Nolan N100E modular...love it & don't find it noisy...and it is easy to get the specs on/adjusted after putting the lid on.... but then again I will be among the first to post on the "Fogey riding a cruiser" forum when it is created.... taking TMW to a new high

I remenber reading a news release last year that motorcycle helmet manufacturers stated that helmets should be replaced every 4 or 5 years because the plastic in time will deteriorate and the helmet may not be as safe when it was new. Dealers were worried when customers demanded information about the helmets, how long they were on the dealers shelf, and they demanded "fresh" helmets, in time dealers have demanded a date code from the helmet manufacturers. My local dealer has a date code on the cardboard box of the helmet and my dealer is well aware of the problem, I wasn't the only one that asked for a "fresh" helmet. Dealer did tell me the reason helmet manufacturers came out with that statement cause they don't wanta be liabile and subject to lawsuits if someone gets injured by an old helmet, he said the old helmets are safe, its just the helmet manufacturers are just playing it safe from lawsuits. I didn't mean to get anybody worried. Anybody that sells new helmets knows about it.

I have a question.. are there any product out there that can be applied to a motorcycle helmet's visor to sheen rain off and prevent fog (like rain-x products for shatterproof plastic)?
