Eh??? Try 73hp and 94ft/lbs of torque. With intake/TFI/exhaust, horsepower climbs into the 90's and torque goes triple digit.

bhp or crank hp?
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

Dunno honestly. But no one has read more about the subject than I have and I've never seen numbers that low.

IIRC the 52hp figure is for the 1500 mean streak not the 1600. 1600 mean streak rear wheel hp is in the mid 60s and crank is 73 as you stated.

Yeah, I have seen numbers in the 50's in reference to the 1500 Classic and Nomad, upon which the 1500 Mean Streak was based.

Stuff like that usually means at the crank unfortunately. You can expect to lose anywhere between 5 and 10 hp getting to the rear wheel.

No doubt. However, it's the same all around so it applies to the competition as well. Honda claims just over 100hp from their VTX1800 but the ones I saw dyno'd last summer were turning 103hp at the rear wheel with aftermarket intake, exhaust, and fuel processor installed.

No doubt, mine has a claimed 95 hp, but most of the dynos I've seen indicate 83 to 86 bhp.

I think the weird, tingly feeling you get from my avatar is unresolved issues, but i could be wrong. :spaz:

I love the Meanstreak - very fine bike, but I really don't need something that big. I figure b/w 1300-1500 is fine - besides with a ride like that I would definitely want to wind it out. Gotta fight the temptation... :starwars:

You guys are some dealership hating people! The VTX does not have shims, they are screw and locknut...which need to be adjusted at the 600 mile service and every 8k miles. We charge about $165 in labour not including oil, filter, crush washer, and shaft oil. The Kawi would probably only be a hundred bucks per service. Both bikes are fine. Personally, I think the Honda looks better. Haven't worked in a Kawi dealership for some time so am a little biased.
