Ok so I've been doing alot of gear hunting lately and I've come up with a couple things that I like. This is pretty much the style and protection level that I'm looking for and was wondering if anyone has ever owned this stuff before and what your take on it is. Also if you guys know of better product thats similar to this stuff please point it out.

First the jacket and pants

Both are Alpinestar which I've heard nothing but good things about. My biggest concern on the jacket is how hot will it get? I plan on using my bike as a daily commuter plus all around joy of riding machine and I'm planning on wearing this thing regardless of weather, will the inside liner make it warm enough on those freaky cold days and much more likely with the liner out will it be comfortable enough on the hot ones. My concern with the pants are also the same how cold or hot will I be in them.

Helmet will be the Shoei RF-1000

I've heard good things about these helmets and when I tried it on it fit perfectly.

As far as boots and gloves go I haven't looked to hard at them. So all recomendations are good on those.

Anyway let me know what you think.

Not trying to junk up your thread....but I have a gear question that might apply....

What if you are sliding across the pavement feet first. What is going to stop the jacket from riding up your back and exposing your skin?

that jacket that I posted has a zipper on the bottom which you can attach to pants. So it basically connects both peices so that doesnt happen.

really if your jacket fits properly, it should not do a whole hell of a lot of riding up even unzippered. If you crash at speed, you will not be a happy camper, regardless of which way you fall, how you slide, or what you have on. That said, all gear, all the time. Give yourself every opportunity to walk away from a potential crash as possible.

Personally, I'm sticking with my HJC helmets, they're much less expensive - and fit me perfectly. Should my helmet make hard contact with the ground, I'd sure hate to have to shell out another $400 to replace it. My buddy crashed in his RF1000, and his passenger had on the cheapest KBC you can buy - both were fine, but he about cried when he realized he'd have to replace those helmets, the RF1000 specifically. That said, buy whatever fits you best.

Check your insurance... my Progressive policy includes $1000 for gear/custom parts. When I went down in '04, my Arai helmet and gear were all replaced.

Oh now that brings up another lovely point - said squid neglected to mention his lack of a license OR insurance. Were he not already bleeding from the arm and leg, I might have beat him senseless. The HJC CL15 is the only helmet I've worn that I feel fits me correctly with my glasses on. I had an AC11 before that, but it now my passenger helmet as it drives me insane.
