"Educate yourself on where to get training and what kind of gear to buy and when to get your liscense and all of that stuff first.

This is a step-by-step process and if you do things out of order, you will only make it harder on yourself. "

VERY true.

I wouldnt go around to dealers until you are ready to buy, its way too tempting.

Take the MSF and get the proper gear, those are the first steps you need to take. You can go get your bike first and do it all backwards, but that is the hard way.

Anyway, I recommend buying a used bike for a first bike. You dont want to start too big and you also dont want to finance a bike that is too puny. Start used and cheap.

Yeah, being tall sucks on a bike...a sport bike at least. I am 6'3 and have an 03 yami R6. I fit comfortably on it, but when compared to my smaller friends on sport bikes, i look like a giant. when i'm on the freeway and want to stretch my arm, if i fully extend it, its less than a foot from the ground. as long as you have decent joints and don't mind the riding position, you'll be alright.
