Hey everyone,
How many people out there have had there bike stolen on them. And what are some precautions you can take to avoid this as much as possible. Going upto the beach this weekend for May 2/4, just want some advise for keeping my bike safe. Thanks everyone!
My advice is to park your bike in a visible place with lots of people and vehicles if possible, and at best get one of those chain locks, park next to a street lamp and lock it to the lamp. Preferable dont put the chain through the front wheel, as its not hard to take the wheel off, so some place like a frame rail(I dont know what bike you have though) or something solid.
Had a dirtbike stolen when i was about 12. Hope they enjoyed that lil problem it had with the throttle sticking wide open
on a side note, police never even bothered to show up. Which has made me a bit more aggressive in the "protecting my assets" department.
All in all i'd say its a good thing they did steal it, *looks at broken shoulder and stupid tree. i mean really. the nerve of that tree growing right where i tried to take my virgin jump
Simple truth is, if the thief is determined enough, nothing wil stop them. However, you can put off the "opportunist" thieves with the standars precuations - decent chain, disc lock, park in well-lit and/or crowded areas.....
Don't give up.
Not now, not soon, not after being continually knocked down.
If you are going to a place like that there is no real way to stop them. If someone wants your bike they will have it. The best protection is not to buy a bike people want to steal.
i know you dont have time, but they do make very small alarms that are easy to hook up and if you are on any sport bike thats 600cc or above it will be extremely simple to find one that plugs directly into your bike.
