I did a bit over 200 miles today, most of it on the highway. The CX500 is definately not well suited to highway riding, my butt goes numb within 40 miles, my hands and feet are numb withing 25 miles. Highway pegs would be nice on this bike but the cylinder heads are in the way.

shame the bike is soo vibey at highway speeds, the bike has zero trouble maintaining 80mph and doesn't get blown around too much.

The longest ride I ever did was 200 miles in Baja, California. It took from sun up to sun down. I was 16 years old and riding a XR250. Coming from NC, I was more accustomed to riding on rocks than sand. Luckily, behind Mike's Sky Rancho there is plenty of rocks and I got my second wind. The next day we did a leisurely ride of about 120 miles. Then the third and last day another 200.
That was pretty much the end of my off-roading days...had my fill of the dirt...or sand in that case.

Until I need gas. If you are talking about how long in one journey, then it depends on my mood. I just returned from a 950+/- trip which I did in 13.5 hours(Detroit to Little Rock). But on the way back I took two days which was 660+/- one day and the rest the next day.

While doing this trip, I had much to think about and one thoguht was how freaking nuts I am to do this in one day. I'm not a spring chicken anymore and the body get's tired. It would be better with another rider, but at least I had the music to bide the time. Otherwise, in solo situations on long stints like that, I think I will haul the bike.

For my POS bike 50 miles non stop is the limit for me, the soft seat, the vibration, the lean forward postion, the hard handling of the bike, my left leg gets weak from holding it up, my hands hurt, the hard suspension, the sun reflexion blinding me from the chrome headlight, the old ladies trying to run me over, the exhaust fumes from the bikes ahead of me, the semi trucks passing me.

any of you guys ever notice the exhaust fumes smell worse when ur using cheap, regular gasoline in ur bike? Im always the last one riding in the back behind everybody and I notice that. I use the super unleaded, 93 octaine in my baby.
