no, that's why i said i need to have some extra money in the bank so that i can still pay monthly on the bike while looking for another job.

but anyway... i think i really need a car.

im so confused right now but yeah, the car will be a much safer bet since i'll pay cash for it.

it's a 95 civic hatchback looks very clean, runs powerful (already test drove it). i just need a mechanic to look it up and wait for the go signal and i'll buy it.

it's got several performance mods so that's why im worried about buying it until a mechanic checks it.

my friend said it's really worth it considering all the mods it has, $4500 is a steal.

the guy is selling it bec he got a 3rd car, a new 350Z. he said he won't need the civic anymore since he has a daily driver and the new 350Z for fun.

Now your thinkin Verm. Besides, your insurance company may not be to willing to insure you for a bike again. I'm not sure but i would check with your agent to get the insurance company's take on it.

$4500 for an 11 year old Civic??????

I'd definately buy a used bike. Buying new is what made your $3k+ vanish, and is an event that could easily repeat itself. You can easily buy a super-terrific used bike for well under $6k, and a very decent one for under $3k.

kbb has it for 5K+ at dealer price.

this specific car looks to be in way better shape than any of the ones i saw at dealers plus it's got expensive mods.

Civic Hatchback

we already test drove it but still, i wanna have it checked by a mechanic 1st before i buy it.

i really don't wanna buy a used bike.

Run away from that car. I guarentee you it's been thrashed like a red-headed stepchild. You don't put that much time and money into an econobox like that to NOT beat the snot out of it. I tell you this as an owner of a '96 Civic hatchback.

Also, salvage title? Run away as fast as you can. Do not buy that car.

Back on the bikes, you need to get over your buying used phobia. Let someone else take the depreciation hit you just experienced.

Gotta agree with Skier. Pass on this car. Salvage title. Performance mods. This car has been beat and will end up costing you tons of $$$ to drive. This type of car does not have the durability to run like that for any length of time. If you want an econo box find one that some retiree has that has been babied. They are out there.

Keep looking.
I would be the old, slow guy. Just let me know where you are going and I'll try to get there before you leave.

Hey, Verm. You've said throughout this post that you have a lot of issues in life right now that are pulling you down. Looking at a somewhat riced out Civic might give a quick thrill, but it doesn't sound like it actually gets to the root of any of your problems. Can it serve as transportation? Yes. Can you get a reliable vehicle for less and keep some of your cash to help your piece of mind? Yes.

Do what you gotta do. But from what you have said in the last couple of notes, it sounds like you are way more excited about the rice-factor of this car than anything. Maybe you need to evaluate how much emphasis you are putting on "bling" for transportation, and then look for ways that this attitude is causing or enabling the other worries in your life.

you're in school, with a "poo poo" job, and you want to spend 5k on a "modded" ricer and finance a bike? I dont understand your priorities.

Actually I do, I guess we're back to the image thing

you can get a good running car for a grand or under that will get the job done.

if you cant afford tp buy a motorcycle outright, you can't afford it.

This reminds me of the people who live in the inner city, and have $30k Lexuses parked in front of thier $25k row homes that are about to fall apart.

Hilarious!

I dont really have any problems with you personally and I'm sure you're a good kid, but i'd venture to say your year is "poo poo" because of the stupid choices you've been making. You'll learn some day though, I guess we've all been there.

i've seen other civic in worse condition sell for the same price so that's why i think it's a good deal.

anyway... like i said, i'll have a mechanic look at it and wait if he gives an ok on it.

i don't intend to go crazy w/ it. im not a big fan of riced cars too.

i just like the looks of a civic hatchback and that's the best one i've seen so far and i've already seen 5 of them so far around here.

My dad bought a 93 honda civic 3 years ago for 2k. They may be asking for that price, but no one in their right mind would pay it.
