Windshield question

#1 Unread post by NickelBagofFunk »

Morning everyone. Just bought my first bike. Got a 2006 Yamaha V-Star 650 Classic.

Do you recommend adding a windshield right away or putting some miles on first and then getting the windshield?

Thanks

Windshields are kind of a personal preference thing and, I'm sure you'll get responses in both directions. I guess my suggestion would be; If you get tired of having the wind hitting you in the chest and/or head or, you get too cold while riding, get a windshield. Those seem to be the complaints I hear from people that don't have windshields. I had one put on my bike before bringing it home so, I don't have any personal experience without a windshield.

Good Luck!

Depends if you're doing a lot of highway riding. They definitely make a huge difference, especially in bad weather. If you want one you can easily install and remove, check out the switchblade line.

and if you don't like the look of one, but want it for long trips, get a quick release windshield. i've got one, but i've never taken it off.

Guess I didn't mention that my windshield is easily removable or adjustable. It's not a quick release but, it can be removed or adjusted by loosening 4 bolts. 2 for removal or the other 2 for adjustments. The required allen wrench was supplied.
