HHH!
I JUST GOT A TICKET! ...from a motorcycle cop!
%#3, i feel like sh*t.
so i'm goin downhill and according to the cop, i was going "65mph". i asked how he knew i was going 65 and he said cause i saw it and i could tell. *%$!!!! (limit was 40) .....he wrote me down for 60 because he said we have to take 5 off since its an estimate....i wasn't even lookin at my speedo so idk how fast i was goin but i know it wasn't 60. %#%!
the cop was hiding behind the trees in the shade, in the middle of the street. and right when i passed him i saw him behind me. "PULL OVER YOU DUMP &*(#!!!" .... IM SP %$#% PISSED! &%#!
court date is July 12, 2006.
he said since i'm a "juvenile", i'd have to go to "juvenile court/judge" and he said that i might NOT be able to take traffic school online because i'm a "juvenile"...is that true?
...because online it's 15 bucks and not online its $85 for every 2 hours, thats 8 hours / 2 = 4 x $85 = $320!!!! thats &*#$& INSANE!
if anyone has any information in this field, please help me....i've never been pulled over before and i have NO IDEA what to do.

How many 'H'es does it take, man? Damn.
Didn't you take the MSF (ok, the CHP-approved training course)... didn't they teach you about S.E.E.? So why weren't you?
The only thing good about having cops on public streets is they provide a "safe" danger for you to practice observing and responding. Failure hurts a little... but nowhere near as much as not spotting the drunk charro in his F350 who overdid his siesta and needs to get back to his practice. Only time I ever got pulled over for speed, I deserved it... not for my speed (which matched traffic), but 'cause I was fiddling with an MP3 player when I shoulda been watching. And if I hadn't been fiddling with the player, he never woulda got me neither. Over 500K miles driving, and that was my stop.
So take your lumps, take it as a lesson that you gotta be on the ball and SEE all the time.

Ride it like you think owning it matters.

fight it. if he can't proove how fast you were going you are innocent until proven guilty, but tell the judge you were doing 46mph or something, dont EVER say you dont know how fast you were going.

Yeah just say you were going 45 give or take. "Your honor I always try to obey the speed limit and the road conditions may have made it appear that I was traveling faster than I was. I was not going the speed that the officer visually estimated."
Out of curiosity, how fast WERE you going? Dont lie

This one is easy to win if he gave you a ticket based on "estimating" your speed instead of coming up w. something a little more concrete. I'd fight it...should be an easy win. Here's what you want to ask the Prosecution for when you go in to plead not guilty - remember, you're entitled to full disclosure.
1) A copy of the officers training records, specifically all techniques used in traffic control, his qualifications in using radar, laser, photo radar and visual estimation. Also ask for copies of his training records showing the frequency of his re-certification;
2) A copy of police dept. policies and procedures in traffic control, use of radar, laser, photo radar and visual estimation of motor vehicles. Ask for their policies on re-training or re-qualification in this areas, specifically how often officers have to be requalified. I would think they have to demonstrate competency the same as they do with a firearm.
3) A copy of police dept. records in the techniques, training & qualification processes in visual estimation of a motor vehicles speed. The key word is "estimation".
Good luck!

No offense Bubba but thats kinda going too far. This kid ain't a 40 year old lawyer. If he asks for all that and starts presenting some big case the judge is just going to laugh and hand down the sentence.
Just be geniune, tell him you weren't speeding and the officer was mistaken and thats that. Your word against his; just be polite, professional, honest, and take what the judge gives you.

In the court of law if there is no solid proof (radar) then you can get off. Hell, if he doesn't use a laser radar and just the old fashioned x-band radar you can get off because those are faulty too!

For some reason, here in canada, that's not trueDieMonkeys wrote:In the court of law if there is no solid proof (radar) then you can get off. Hell, if he doesn't use a laser radar and just the old fashioned x-band radar you can get off because those are faulty too!
I was in court one day waiting to explain my own ticket(cop forged the date) and I was watching another hearing. The judge said that the officer had been a cop long enough that he was acurately able to judge the speed of a vehicle. The traffic violation held and the guy had to pay. No radar was used.
It may be different in the states but here it's pretty gay.
