if ya ever get riding up around the NT (darwin), you will see alot of thongs, singlets, board shorts being used as riding gear, infact its so common that after a while you dont even notice it.

I hear lots of good research comes from there on split skin grafting post the meet with the black stuff, if ya survided the meet that is.

I lived in Darwin for 18 months when 1 Brigade moved up there in '99. It was hotter than hell but I still wore the gear whilst riding.
My sister has recently left after 6 years as nurse at Darwin hospital and has some great stories to tell about jokers coming off in the worst possible way. They are generally young, stupid Army boys that will never know better.
