No offense, but I hardly consider Memorial Day to be one that requires a "happy" as part of it's greeting. Christmas, sure... New Years, of course... 4th of July, certainly. But Memorial Day is not one that is cause for a happy celebration.
It should be a time to reflect upon those who paid the ultimate sacrafice for their country and it's citizens. It's my belief that if you cherish your freedom to have a day off and ride, then you should take a moment to remember those who paid with their blood for you to have that day off and to ride a motorcycle. I know I do.

"Happy" IS part of Memorial day. Happy to be alive. Happy that I live in this great country, even with it's faults. Happy to be free to ride my bike. Happy to voice my opinion on anything from riding a motorcycle to disagreeing with the President.
The one thing I'm not so "happy" about are the people who take this country and it's freedoms for granted and don't associate the freedom they have with the men and women that gave up their lives, and still do, so this republic can endure.
Why is it that the majority of the people of this country, think of these true heroes only one day of the year? There is hardly a day that goes by that I don't think of them and thank God that there are still people that are courageous enough to put their live on the line for me and the freedoms of this country.

My post was more in response to the first two posts. I figured everyone was young and/or had no idea what Memorial Day was about. I reckon I might have gotten little annoyed at the idea that it was something trivial and minute and to be dismissed as merely a day off from work.
Personally, I wish they'd return Memorial Day to May 30th... it may kill some of the over-commercialization of a traditionally sacred and somber day. Again, thanks for your service... on Vetran's day I'll tip a beer in your direction then too.

different people celebrate in different ways.
i know the meaning of this day, but i dont think all the people who served to protect our freedoms want me to sit at home and cry about it all day. i think they would WANT us to eat, drink, and be merry becasuse thats what they were/are trying to defend.
i for one, went to the lake, ate some bbq, came home and rode the bike, went to the shootign range, then had a bit to drink before bed.
i can do all those things because someone else protected my freedom to do so. so to me thats a happy memorial day

In roughly 60 days I am going to be a disabled veteran. I have served 9 years in the Air Force. If I had it to do all over again I would do it the same way.
I am happy I served my country. It was not my intention to start any kind of fight. Sorry if I offended anyone.

Still in at the moment. In fact I am still at work. 16 hour day so far and I dont think I am going to be able to go to sleep until tommrow. I will be Mr. Pinger by 1 Sep.
