I'm considering lowering myself to a cruiser one of these days, getting harder and harder to swing my arthritic hip up over a tall bike. Expect it to be a couple decades yet till I would need a trike.
I've always considered cruisers were made for the elderly and trikes were for the truly infirmed that still want some wind in the face, more than provided by the movement of a rocking chair.
Seriously though, I think many are going to a trike because they don't choose to give up their large heavy bikes as they age. Gotta admire the handicaped that get a trike and keep on riding.

I must admit, I like the idea of a trike... Bikes would always be my first choice, but in the winter, I like the idea of being able to go out when it's a bit icy, without worrying about parking the bike, on its side, in a ditch
