I love the FZ6.

Horrible choice for a beginner. Way too powerful.

Here is some advice on learning to ride:

www.CaliforniaBikeNights.com/learn.php

The deal on the 250 sounds great. I rode a Ninja 250 as my first bike. I put 16,000 miles on it and once had it up to 105MPH on some straight, flat road out in the desert. It was only a 36HP bike. It could out-accellerate every family car on the road and most lower-end sportscars.

The FZ6 is about 98HP. Triple the power of the Ninja 250.

And you can look online and compare insuracne costs yourself. The salesguy lied to you. Plain and simple. No way insurance on a 250 will be higher than the FZ6. Buy the bike somewhere else. Or better yet, from a different salesguy and be sure to TELL him that you won't buy from him because you learned that he was lying to you. Lousy rat bastrd.

Did Honda lower their price on the 599? Last time I checked (probably '05), the 599 was the most expensive of the bunch in the middleweight/standard class. IIRC the SV650 was the low end, the 599 was the high end, and the FZ6 fell right about in the middle.

OK, a quick check on the net and I answered my own question.

MSRP for '06

SV650 - $5,949
FZ6 - $6,799
599 - $7,399

Looks like the SV is actually a pretty good bargain in that group.

sooooo its an expensive lemon eh? its cool though ,i like its look over the FZ, and id take one if ifelt i was ready and had the cash over the SV im gonna get

Well, I actually got it for less then list price, so maybe that affected my thinking. Then again I do tend to downplay my bike.

Maybe I should brag about it more.

If you REALLY REALLY want a naked bike for your first bike hunt for a suzuki GS500E ('02 and earlier) its just like the GS500F but is naked. If you insist on new then check out the SV650, its about the most powerful bike I would ever recommend to a beginner.

I am looking at the FZ6 for my next bike, I really like it and it should be a nice step up from my CX500

My advice is to buy used. You do not want to finance a bike you could grow out of quickly. Save up some money and straight up purchase a Ninja 250 and learn how ride. You will be suprised at how much you have to learn. I have been riding for nine months and still feel like a complete newbie.

On top of that, you likely wont lose a dime when you resell the little ninja. After that, go out and pick yourself a nice 600cc supersport and not worry about smashing up the plastics with a newbie drop.
