Maybe you are more concerned with looks than with riding, never thought of any cbr 600 engines toned down or not as good learners. What you can do is learn to do your own work on your bike and save your money. I like when I use my true beater which is a 80s bike and leave all kind of squids on sportbikes in the dust. They say what is bike is that, I respond a beater. Freaking fair weather riders (modelers and posers). Once the bike runs well who gives a "crumb". You may be too sensitive
just take your money somewhere else.

Its common for dealers not to work on certain type bikes, first off motorcycle mechanics blow most of the time, secondly they didn't make money off you so they don't care. Its not unusual to see dealers for the same brand not want to service your bike because you didn't buy it from them. Then again I don't have that problem because I wrench my own bike.

Another reason to get an old beater is it is easier to fix (most of the times) and you can learn to wrench on something that wont make you to mad if its down.

Wrenching any bike with fairings sucks but wrenching most modern day inline fours ugh.

maybe you should have returned your high priced gloves too just to make a statement. Cheaper online anyways.
hey thanks, yea i see your point, and my wife said pretty much the same thing, "why the "fudge" do you care what he thinks" and ur both right. so i actually feel alot better about it, i found a manual for the bike and bunred it (like 100 megs of everything) this weekend im going to a buddys and hes going to show me how to change the oil and other minor things as well. so really i just think it motivated me more to do my own stuff

That's a good start. You can learn everything you need to know about motorcycle maintenance, one small job at a time. A factory shop manual, with maybe a Clymer manual for backup, is just about all you need as far as knowledge goes. Most of this stuff is not rocket science.

The other day someone was asking me if I knew a good local motorcycle mechanic. I didn't have a clue. When I started thinking about it, I realized that I hadn't taken a motorcycle to a repair shop since 1980.

What!?

You're upset because you feel insulted by what someone said about your motorcycle?

Oh, dear God. Dude, did you transpose the numbers on your age?

I get what you're saying man, it'd upset me too. And it's not like you hauled off and bitchslapped the guy back to his mother's womb. It's your pride and he was a stick. Forget him.

doesnt look "beat up" to me. i think both those bikes are tight looking. and feel you on the getting upset about someone dissing you bike, i have a dog (a doberman) that im very proud of but one of my friends keeps calling it inbred. and that hurts my feelings in kind of the same way.

ride safe.
