Take the MSF course... talk it up to your parents. Keep them in the loop of what you're learning. Keep your eye out for a decent used, starter bike to begin on... BUY IT WHEN YOU FIND IT.

My folks don't like motorcycles at all but I'm on my own and so it's my choice.
I just continue to remind them I'm not a stupid rider.

thanks for all the input, i know i'll probably never change their minds, but my g/f is finally warming up to it so maybe they will to? i may have to try the "im gettign a helicopter or a motorcycle" trick.

LoL make sure you have some pamplets from your local sky-diving school as well.

My wife wasn't thrilled with the idea but, she pretty much never says no to me. What helped with her was taking her with me to the dealerships to look at bikes. She's actually had some good input and has been a key factor in my decision making. I wouldn't suggest that with your mom but, maybe with your girlfriend and dad.

I already fly hang gliders. Gyrocopters are cool but a bit scary. I prefer a wing that doesn't rely on moving parts to keep me in the air.

I'm in the same boat. My dad owned a small 50cc bike back in his day (he's about 53 now) and got in a real bad bike accident. Rode through an intersection and a guy turning left pulled right in front of him. My dad rode into the car head on and flew off the bike. If he hadn't been wearing a helmet, I wouldn't be around, lol. So it's not going to be pretty when I get a bike. I'll try to tell them that i'm going to ride safe but....nothing will work.

Hopefully they'll let me park it at their house, not at my apartment, lol.....

You're an adult do what you want. Take the MSF course & wear gear.

What're they going to do if you get a bike? You don't need a cellphone!
