Some sportsbikes have steering dampeners which help limit tank slappers.

A tank slapper is when the front wheel attempts to go from side to side violently. The bars are attempting to slap each side of the petrol tank.

Trying to control a tankslapper one handed is asking to go down. Which is why the squid comments were made above.

Verm, if I hear you have been attempting to go round corners with only one hand on your bars I will stop talking to you.

I rest one hand all the time when I'm driving on a long road that doesn't appear like it's going to throw any surprises at me. I usually just sit in on my lap or let it hang in the breeze :D

I'll give a strait answer. I will sometimes ride one handed and just rest my left hand on my leg. It just helps with giving you a different position in which to ride. Nobody likes to sit in one position all the time. My bike has a steering dampener on it and doesn't give any instability issues.

yes ive noticed for longer rides my right hand tends to get tingley (if thats a word) so when i sit up i guess it takes the pressure off and helps out, although im trying to practice not putting so much pressure on it when im riding in the first place. i think i slouch

Call me an arse, but it takes just as long to ask a question here as it does to type it into google and find out for yourself.
Simple stuff really.
