It's just two pontoons filled with sand that would have a post in each pontoon. You'd chain your bike to the post.

Obviously the pontoons wouldn't be able to be moved (too heavy) but the chains can still easily be cut. That's the flaw.

That and it's large, and impractical, and you can only use it at one location, can't take it with you.

so how the hell is it different from chaining the bike to any other unmovable object?

I don't know. Ask him.

I may have missed something in his explanation but, to me, that's what I envisioned off his description.

Me too.
I don't get why they dont have chip immobilizers like all new vehicles. Seems like the best solution to me. :|

Well I know who not to tell confidential things to anymore.

Anyway he missed a crucial point which is that the device would have a central metal bar which would go through the bike at some part, and the bar would be far more durable than a standard chain.

Yes but not all bikes are created the same. To find a central location on all bikes for it to go through would be difficult if not impossible.

I mean not even the spokes are equidistant on the bikes, though it would be a good location.

But still this idea would only work in one spot. It wouldn't do much to prevent someone from stealing it at your place of work, the grocery store, etc.

It needs to be something transportable, like a chain (which can be cut) or a disc lock (the motorcycle can simply be lifted then).

And I highly doubt anyone on this forum was looking to steal your idea in the first place. Just put out a caveat if you're that worried about it.

Then read my new thread.
A simple remote auto-brake system could really ruin a thief's day.

I have an idea for a motorcycle security product and I'd like to know if and for how much people would buy something like this.

List your interest here and I'll PM you the idea.
An electronic immobilizer is the only thing that will deter theives. The best way to see that is to push that it be a mandatory feature from the manufacturers.
