Uhh, 2-4 months of riding, 2 dumps. That's .5 - 1 dump per month there budday. Doesn't sound like you're quite ready to move up to a bike with more than double the power...
But hey, that's just me.

I am just going to confirm what everyone else is saying.
You could do with digging down into the EX and finding where it is fun. If I read you right you arent getting an adrenaline rush when you open her up on a straight, so learn how to handle the bike in the twisties and how to really throw it around.
I can't think of a time when I was actually bored with my bike. The chances are very good that if she hadn't have been stolen I'd still be throwing my CeeGee around now because its fun.
You put in 20,000 accident free miles and I'll not have a problem with you running out and buying a 600 supersport, until then I really don't think its a good idea.

um? me thinks you already knew what we were gonna say and just wanted to stir something up.
so here you go- if you get a gixxer 600 i hope someone will come kick you in the throat, i cant afford insurance as-is. people who are not skilled riders getting bikes way above their ability is what causes rates to go up. i dont wanna be paying for your stupidity.

You may want to contact your insurance company and ask them what it's going to cost to insure that Gixxer that you think will be cheaper than your EX500.
What year is the EX500? Are you making payments on it?

the thing is that i don't think it's beyond my ability....the people that i know say that i'm ready for it.....but then we got all you guys here saying that i'm not ready...god, i;m soo confused, i don't know what to do.
i want to take it out on the track and see if i can ride at the bike's limits, but i don't have a one-piece and i don't have enough money to buy one.....the speedodometer? shows 140mph, i've taken it to about 125ish staight away....and yes, it was in a safe environment.
....but i think by taking to the limits you meant through twisties?
P.S. went to the suzuki dealership yesterday and sat on some gixxers, they are SOOOOOOO LIGHT!!

Why don't you just buy the Gixxer and get it over with? It seems that's the road you're gonna pick regardless of what we tell you.

Buy the Gixxer, you can handle it. You have ALL the skills of Superman but you're better! You can stand by Kryptonite! You're like Super-Superman! Gixxers won't scratch you. Falling off won't do a damn thing, you can deflect bullets after all!
There. You've had the 1 out of 20 people tell you the Gixxer is OK. That's all you're gonna listen to anyways. So go out and get the 'cheaper' GSXR.

I got an R6 after 3 months on a GS500 altho i did not have any accidents during that time, Just make sure you spend plenty of time learning your new bike and you will be fine

Went and checked some insurance quotes yesterday. This is what Progressive quoted me:
Profile - been riding for about a year. 33 yr. old male, single, own home. Spotless driving record (no tikets/violations...ever!)
2006 Honda CBR600F4i - full coverage, $1k deductible, theft coverage = $2,190 yr.
2006 Honda VTX1300C - same coverage as above = $378 yr.
I make a pretty decent wage, but damn...$2190 a yr. just on insurance? IMO, you're either rich or insane, maybe both if you want a Gixxer. You might wanna check out the insurance rate on that Gixxer.
I do have to admit, when I was in my early 20s, I really had a thing for sport bikes. Looks was my primary focus. I've got a feeling 95% of your wish is based on looks or performance. And to wipe twice on a much tamer bike with only 2400 miles...I just think you're crazy.

So you can't afford a one piece, but want a new bike? Live below your means my good man and you'll be glad you're not "bike poor". If it were me, I would save for a one piece - take your current bike to the track and learn as much as you can in a safe environment. Give yourself a year or so of good hard riding and learning as much as you can. Then when you're ready, you will (hopefully) have saved a good wad of cash and know you can buy it w/o breaking the bank or needing new paint.
