This is where you need one of those mods that shoot flame out the tailpipe. and have it hooked to a cel-remote.
Long distance crispy critters.
I know i'd get away from a bike that just suddenly started spewing 4' flames.

Yep. That is what I thought too. If they want it, they'll grab it and go. Even a loud alarm is useless. They get it in the van or the truck and the alarm can be disabled far from you. I think you have to make it hard to steal your bike (as hard as you can) and have good insurance.

Anyone else think that video is more of propaganda then an actual thief?
I mean the first thing they show in that video is a guy playing with his gun. And we know how much they hate guns up there in Canada.

A few years ago in Vegas my friend had his HD stolen. He had stopped in to get a beer(broad daylight on a busy saturday afternoon) and had chained the bike to a 8"steel pole that was cemented into the asphalt.
When he went to check on his bike (about 1/3rd of the beer later) the bike/pole was gone.
The police told him that there was a bike theft ring that had some sort of "cherry picker" in the back of a box van (so they theorized). They would backup to the bike open the door swing the boom out and yank up the pole/bike as a unit swing it into the truck close door and leave.

Why use all the little gadgets? Just bring a wrench with you and disconnet the brake cables before you go inside. Then why they try to drive off with your bike, by the time the realize the brakes don't work, it will be too late. Of course, that won't matter if they're putting it into a van.

best way to do a bike theft sting would be to park a bait bike, and have an unmakred police car with a camera trained on it. When the bike is ganked the officers prusue and have it all on tape for the DA.
a remote engine kill would be nice for a ride off thief, but most thieves just lift em into the back of a van.
