The more I read about stators the more I agree (bad parts were/are the problem). An OEM stator for my bike--85 Honda Shadow VT700--from BikeBandit.com runs over $320, while an Electrex stator will run me $140 after taxes and shipping. Do you have any experience with Electrex parts? They seem fairly popular and they don't require a core exchange (like the shop I got my last 2 stators from did) so I assume they're completely new units.
I'll take my burnt stator to the shop on Tuesday; they said they'll test it for me. I'm sure it will fail and if they don't give me a really good deal on an exchange I'm ordering one from BB.
