These two pictures are of the exact same jacket. As you can see, the front panel, sleeve and also the back all zip out in one piece leaving you with a summer weight mesh jacket, retaining all of it's armor.

I like the alter ego but I found it wasn't a very good winter jacket so I ended up going for something else last fall. My current jacket is great in the fall and thus far this spring but it'll be hell this summer so I'm just looking for something for the hot days

The joy of heated a vest... There is also an optional liner for the Alter Ego

You'd think that the structural integrity of the textile would be stronger simply because it's not full of little holes...

I'm thinking about getting a mesh jacket myself. Kind of sad really. I've got a $400 leather jacket and all I can think about is finding a cheap mesh jacket that's not so durn hot!

Alright so it comes in textile/mesh combinations and you remove the textile layer for summer riding?

So when someone says a Mesh jacket they're actually referring to just the under part without the textile surface?

Or:

There's Mesh, Textile, Mesh/Textile.

Mesh for summer, Textile for winter, Mesh/textile for both.

Summer is a relative thing, someone in Miami or LA may opt for just a mesh.

Mesh jacket is the way to go. If its really cold out, I will put the liner in. If its REALLY cold out, I will wear a cheap leather jacket under my mesh jacket.

Can't get much protection than leather+mesh+armor and it makes me look all buff

Why leave it at a vest? Less than $100 and I have 77 watts in my jacket liner and 22 watts in my hands. My poor legs feel left out though, but they never complain

I would have bought the jacket but there was a fit problem, I have wrists the size of most peoples ankles, they just don't fit into all of those layers and then into my gloves... I can't even wear my watch with a dress shirt or jacket...

Is that from muscle? I knew this guy whos arms were too wide for any jacket, suit, shirt etc. He had to have everything custom made, mostly wore tank tops and short sleeved shirts even at the office... no one cared... no one would have told him to do anything else. He was a nice guy, but he looked like maybe possibly if he was really upset that day he might rip your head off for mentioning sleeve length. At least, he looked like he wouldn't have to break a sweat doing it...
