The FZ6 is a fast bike and the engine sounds smoother and sweetier than the SV650. The SV650 has an engine noise that sounds like its coming apart. If ur going to drive normal, at the speed limit the FZ6 has plenty of low rpm torque and power, but if you wanta run the bike like a crotch rocket and break every speed law there is, ur going to have to gear it down and get the revs up, its a re-tuned R6 motor with less power and different gearing for normal street riding at normal speeds. The FZ6 has a good engine sound, the SV650 is like a fat chick, its fun to ride, but you don't want your friends to see you riding it.

Found a cool article on a Honda 599 v. Yamaha FZ6 v. Suzuki Sv650

Sadly the SV comes last :(

Oh yah you are right. I just noticed the order of articles pertaining to each bike and that the Sv has the lowest quarter mile time. But you are right because it's listed:

3. Yamaha
2. Honda
1. Suzuki

Overall the suzuki is the best, which makes me happy! :D

 That is good..can I use that line? My son's SV (and probably the V-strom since they share engines) has a thump to it that is hard to get used to. I'm sure it's a good engine and produces more torque than and in-line but if looking for a "sporty" bike that is not a crotch rocket, I'm not sure the SV is the way to go. It's all about preference though. If it's a motorcycle, I wil like riding it. If I get a V-strom, it's not for sporty looks but for practicality. The FZ is for picking up chicks.... at my age, fat or otherwise. 8)

I bet the FZ6 would be about perfect if you dropped a tooth in the front.

Your post is funny because I'm getting a SV and my dad is buying a new V-storm to go riding with me. kinda strange huh...

when i was considering a new bike the FZ6 was one of the ones i was looking at. The dealer was putting one together so I could take it for a test ride, but I never got a chance too.

I had my choices down to the FZ6 or a 2 or 3 year old Bandit, before I got the deal on the FJ

put something other than the stock evil can on the two bikes and I think you will find the grunting rumble of the SV to be VERY pleasing. as far as overall power no it doesnt have it, but it does have a lot of smooth torque all the way through, which is good for streets cause, well, sometimes downshifting while turning through intersections isnt an option and I want to know that even if it drops to 2,000rpms I can twist back and the tire will rip at the pavement
