Why do you want one so bad anyway? Most of the time cops don't even pull you over unless you're going noticably faster then the rest of the traffic or if you're going like 10 mph over, whichever is faster.
well todays detectors can sort between different bands, like doors and such will run on x band, most cops radars are going to be ka and.

Laser guns are used only in about 10% of tickets. I use one in my car when Im driving on the wide open roads, but when your in the city you get false alarms and ignore the thing.

My uncle has one one his bike, he bought a battery opperated one so he wouldn't have to tap into his bike's electrical system. If you Google up motorcycle radar detectors you'll get some results. I don't have one and don't intend to get one, but he said it saved him quite a few times.

With all of the problems of instant on radar and lasers, I just stick to my old fashioned method. Wait for the next speeder to pass you by, then trail him by about 1/2 mile. I've used this method successfully for many years. Haven't had a speeding ticket since 1992 and rarely go the speed limit.

That's pretty much what I do, find someone speeding, and follow him a little slower around corners, until I can make sure there aren't any cops, then catch up, then do it again on the next corner.

I run with a multiband radar/laser detector on my bike. I have it velcro'd to a mount bolted to my dash. wiring into my electrical system was dirt simple, as I had a couple of unused bullet plugs on my bike (the euro spec model uses them, the NA models don't), so I wired up an inline fuse holder to some bullet plugs on one end and a small molex connector on the other. The existing cigarette plug on the detector power cord was removed and the wires hooked into the matching molex connector.

Velcro the unit on the dash, plug in and go. I never have to turn the detector off because the wiring it's hooked to is switched power. When my detector picks up a signal, it tells me what band it is and what the signal strength is. Laser and instant on blare at me with a flashing alert and a different tone. at max volume, I can hear it chirp at me while I'm riding, and the display is in my lower peripheral vision.

kinda fuzzy, but that's my plug in and fuse holder for the detector

I know my friend's radar detector saved him from at least two tickets this past weekend. He says it's paid for itself.

my friend had a turbocharged mazda miata that was quick. he had a saying-

dont drive 10 over, the cops will just get you.

if you double the limit, by the time the cop pulls out, your 3/4 a mile down the road, by the time he has accelerated to the speed you were going, you can be going even faster.

Sadly, he was racing that car (at a track) and blew it up.

who would have guessed 18lbs of boost is too much for that motor?!

but moral of the story, don't half-"O Ring" it on the speeding. if you wanna go- go!

(disclaimer: you should probably check out the pics on this forum that were just posted of a bike hitting a car a 155mph, ouch)

i use the "camping" technique posted earlier. you set up camp behind someon going faster than the limit and just chill there. i have a BRIGHT blue truck and i dont think many cops would miss it whiping by. so far so good. only ticket i got was LEGITIMATLY keeping up with traffic so i paid their extortion charges and traffic schooled my way out of my insurance company finding out.

good luck whatever you decide.

LOL Me too. I call him "my rabbit". let him run out in front of you, "beating the weeds" and smoking out the nice policeman. :)

In my Mustang, I ran from Nashville to St Louis (supposedly a 5 hr ride) in 3.5 hrs at about 100+ mph (at 6am) thanks to a guy in a Cobra Mustang about half a mile ahead of me. :)
