I dunno, if you only want to ride if you can have a fast sportbike, maybe this is a good time to sit down and think whether you really want a bike at all. Might be a good idea to get a nice car (which helps for dating!) and wait to get your sportbike again when you are settled down with more money to throw around.
believe me if i had money... i'd follow you guys and get me a beater for everyday rides.
but i don't have extra money lying around. so the priority goes to the nice bike.
plus, i need to buy a cheap car too since i can't survive w/ only a bike.
so yeah, no extra money... my beater money needs to go a 4 wheeler. hopefully an old but still reliable 6 cylinder truck.

and i really don't wanna get a bike that is not desirable. i love to ride. it's not everything to me but a big part of enjoying the ride is enjoying what i am riding.
and yes, i've tried riding cruiser bikes already.
if it's free then i don't mind having a beater bike. but if i will spend my own money, i'd get something that i'll really enjoy.
no ones saying that you cant get a bike you desire, but the gixxer1000 is one of the most stolen and desired bikes out there, especially the new ones, what i think what we meant was like perhaps see what other bikes you like, see if there are any you like that arnt as big of targets as your last one.

well yeah, im sure you know im aiming to get the new gixxer600 for my next bike. im sure it's less desirable than my previous 1000 but im also sure i'll still love it, maybe even more since i think i'll be able to control it easier.

Just curious verm, did you ever get a chance to completely open the throttle in 1st? If so, how did you stay on the bike? That's gotta go from 0-60 in like less then 3 seconds.

Naw... don't get a GSX-R 600, they aren't at the top of their heap like the Suz 1000s are.
If you want a middleweight class bike, get a Triumph 675 or a Yamaha R6.

nope, never had the chance to do full throttle.
but i have pushed 1st gear to its limit. 12K rpm is where the bike was supposed to reach it's top power.

i do like the new R6.
but still, the GSX-R is still the best looking to me and these guys know how much i depend on looks when i buy a bike.
besides, im sure the '06 GSX-R600 is a great bike, they are just not winning right now in the AMA.

I'm pretty sure he has his heart set on the gixxer. It's not like it would make an ounce of difference one way or the other. The difference between those bikes is mostly rider preference and skill... so telling him to get a 675 or R6 is pretty pointless, since we know he likes the gixxer more, and he wouldn't be able to find an overwhelming difference between them anyway (because there isn't one).
One of my buddies went out and got a new R6 for his first bike... guess what, he still can't keep up if we didn't wait for him. Which is fine, I have no problem waiting... but he has one of the "fastest" bikes out of our group, but he is still the slowest rider. Even when I am on my KZ650 with its whopping 55hp, I pull away in the corners.
So, like I was saying, between those bikes, it won't matter performance-wise. I'm still a proponent of starting smaller until you can ride the hell out of the small bike... Why move to a bike you aren't able to control, and then have bikes with half the displacement fly past you because your bike greatly exceeds your skills? GSJack (runsilent now) has the right idea in this case.. he whoops up on liter bikes with his GS500, because he can ride the bike to its potential... and most kids with literbikes can't.

i don't really care if other riders w/ smaller bikes smoke me.
maybe after a year it will matter to me since i should be better by then but right now, i really don't care.

Actually, what I think you should do is get your hands on a Ninja 650R.
It's a better bike to practice your skills on because you will be able to push it to its limits much more safely, and it's a GREAT looking bike.
And I know that everyone has their own preferences for styling, but I think that the Gixxer's paintjobs are HIDEOUS.
All those colors!
I don't really get why they don't offer their bikes in single colors (yellow, red, or black for instance) rather than those cheesy boy racer schemes.
