I agree, people run red lights thinking those 5 minutes (tops) that they'll save, are worth the risk of peoples lives. It's mentally challenged. Everyone is so god damn selfish that they can't be patient, or courteous for the sake of others.

Anway, I know this is mentally challenged but I actually won't even use a blinker in many cases on the highway because when people here in NJ see you put on your blinker instead of letting you make your lane change they slam on the gas and speed up so you can't get in front of them for some insane reason! You might slow them down .00001 of a second from getting to where they want to go! So anyway, I look/shoulder check and make the lane change w/ no blinker.
I can verify this about NJ. I used to live in Delaware and went to south jersey all the time. FWIW, Conn drivers are exactly the same way. I don't use blinkers on the bike or cage while on the hi-way.

Everyone always says how the drivers are worse in their city then anywhere else. I think every city is just as bad as every other city.

Well yah, except for my city.
We had a stoplight down for a while (Rita) and it was off. People apparently don't know it turns into a four way stop. So they ran it. A week or three passes and they catch on (and this is long after stop signs were put up). Now the stop light is back up and they're stopping at green lights now.
Tis a sad, sad situation.

Anyone else in favor of an IQ test being supplemental to a driving exam?

That's the exact same thing that happened here after Wilma. Most lights were out and even when they started working people would stop at the green! The first couple times I got pissed off, but after a few more times it just added to my already cynical attitude.

Hrm, have to find the stats of accidents/deaths again but if I remember correctly NJ was at the top of the list. NJ is the most densely populated state in the country... to many people crammed into a very small state.
I am talking about NJ as the entire state, not single cities... even in the rurarl areas you will get run off the road... I also think NJ has the highest car insurance prices... for the same reasons.

This is just 1 test (the first one I could find without wasting too much time)... but NJ is almost the worst. Right behind Rhode Island and Massachusetts.

I'll look for more studies when I'm bored

You just need to realize that these drivers are in the majority. Once you do, you'll likely find yourself riding down the road yelling things inside your helmet like, "For f*cksake, just let the guy in" while following some poor schlub who needs to get over into the next lane but no one will let him. You'll also start yelling things like, "Jesusfuckingchristonaprostitute! Pay attention, you f*cking moron!".
Trust me... I do this all the time.
liab, brilliant! What a clever way of putting it. My wife and I often have fun watching these idiots when we are driving in our cage. We'll point out the mefirsts...usually they are in the left-most lane, tailgating 2 inches behind the guy ahead. Swerving around someone, gasing it, and cutting in front of them (just to be stopped at the light 30 seconds later). These are also the ones who will cross 3 lanes if there is an empty 'first' spot at the stoplight (personally, I prefer NOT to be the first one to venture into a fresh intersection thank you).
Sometimes, they really just want you to GET out of THEIR way. Literally. We were driving the other day, in the right-most lane, going the speedlimit (heaven forbid). The entire freeway was empty, but this guy behind us decided we were going to slow and started tailgating. For 1 miles he was right on our tail. Finally I got fed up with his stupidity and moved into the middle lane. He then proceeded to race up to the next person in front and tailgate THEM! We were laughing for 5 miles at this guy while he was obviously furious in his car, trying to force everyone one out of his way when the 2 lanes next to him were
completely empty.
Driving in this country is getting worse, because we don't have laws to prosecute people like this properly. I think anyone caught exhibiting this behavior should be charged with a threat to assault with a deadly weapon, or intent to terrorize, or something. A felony, really teach them a lesson before they kill someone and end up with nothing but a 5% hike on their insurance.

Very well put. I see plenty of those drivers myself while in my cage. However, I like to think I'm not one of them.
