I've got a parallel twin, not too bad sound and performance wise. I would rather have the V4 that powered the Honda Magna.

Interesting question. I've had two V-twins and one inline four. Of those two, I liked the V-twin variants better.
The latest issue of Rider has a Sport Touring shootout, and one of them was a Triumph 3-cylinder. To paraphrase the review, the Triumph triple "splits the difference between V-twin torque and four cylinder horsepower, with a nice boost in the midrange". I've never ridden a triple, but if that's how they lay down power then it sounds to me like a great configuration.

Anyone remember/ heard/ played the Playstation game Final Fantasy VII? There's a scene where the lead character takes a bike and being chased by the bad guys. It looked like it had 4 exhausts and probably 4 cyl: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v600/ ... imania.png

I chose 3 cylinder. Seems to be about the perfect comprimise between a peaky inline 4 and a torquey twin. Not to mention they also sound incredible.
I love the sound of the triumph triples.
I also like the sound of a short stroke v-twin (think SV650 or ducati) hitting the sweet spot of its powerband. Im kinda partial to this sound as this is what my CX500 sounds like when the tach needle crosses 6000rpm.
definately like the scream of a 4 cylinder sportbike too. sounds like an indy car

I voted for the 4 cyl, based upon my experience with the V-4. I think it does a great job of producing mid-range for a 4! It doesn't have the crazy low-down torque like a V-twin, but it is a good compromise (like the inline-3).
What is nice about the V-4 is it keeps the weight very low compared to an inline-4, and I think it sounds a heck of a lot better.
I was torn though, having owned bikes with a V-twin, inline 4 and a V-4, I really had a tough decision. The inline-4 in my 79 kawasaki is a lot torquier than the newer stuff. It has power right off of idle, but I didn't feel like that is a good representation of modern I-4's. Either way, both that and my interceptor are rocking on four cylinders... so that is my choice.
