So true. I ride a BMW R80RT, which was one of the (admittedly less common in the US) police bikes of the 1980s. My bike has flip-out driving lights in the fairing, and a bunch of gaudy green retroreflective stickers plastered all over it. With those lights flipped out, but not on, and wearing my white helmet / black riding suit, people get the freak out of my way! That is so true! One of my neighbors does funeral escorts on an old Kaw police bike. He says he never has problems with people not seeing him. They wear dark uniforms and the same half helmets the cops wear. You can't tell it's not a real cop unless you're right up close.I've been driving for over 27 yrs. and have never had a close call with a bike. This is really weird. I was reading more proficient motorcycling and this came up.
