Either one is going to go faster than you'll be going on the street, so don't worry about "performance figures" unless you plan on doing track days/racing. I think both bikes look quite sweet. I've always been a fan of the gixxer styling but I really think that Yamaha did a great job this time. As stated the redline is only 15,500 RPM's (not the 17,500 they claimed) which once again probably won't matter as I doubt you'll be hitting that kind of RPM's on the street.

When it comes down to it though I'd probably go with the R6. There's just way too many GSX-R600 using squids around!!

Thanks for all the replies guys! The more I look at both bikes I’m starting to like the look of the R6 more. The all black one! I will go back to the dealer and sit on both.

Another question, so the 2006 R6S is exactly the same as the 2005 R6?

Yes. So there's nothing de/re-tuned about it. It's a full fledged, twisty carving, power having, fast going bona fide sportbike, just like the others. It just has a slightly better younger brother in the new R6.

Wrong. The 2005 R6 had inverted forks, the 2006 R6S does not. That's the only difference though...and the advantage of inverted forks is pretty small.

Inverted forks? Is that a good thing or a bad thing?

Thanks,
Denny

My bad. Maybe they did that to make the gap between the two seem that much bigger to get more people to buy the new R6.

there is little difference between regular and inverted forks on the street, and only a slight advantage to the inverted forks on the track due to less unsprung weight.

IMHO, R6 looks better, Gixxer 600 is cheaper

BTW how did the daytona 675 do in that middleweight comparison?

It "won" the middleweight comparo with them stating best cornering clearance, best brakes, lightweight, "midrange of a twin with zing of a four." Supposedly the perfect balance just a little notchy when shifting.

The Gixxer and CBR both have pretty good feel while the Yamaha and Kaw were near last.

All personal opinions. A different mag will have the Yamaha winning and the Daytona dead last. Another will have the Suzuki win and the Honda dead last. What they all need to realize is that the Kawasake SHOULD always be dead last!

Personally I think the Daytona 675 is just a rediculously sexy bike, it might just get my nod. After that I'd put the Yamaha and then the Suzuki.

But don't buy a bike off of the "performance reviews." Every one is going to have a different winner. Go and sit on each one and see which you feel is most comfortable...
