But I'll bring up one observation. There are a few taverns sprinkled around the more remote areas of south Jersey where I ride. In the summer, these frequently have crowds of motorcycles parked out front. I'm not bending the truth to say 90% of those bikes are the Harley brand. The owners are usually not drinking lemonade and iced tea in those establishments. (I've been inside to eat, I can see what they're drinking.) I've observed a pronounced correlation between the motorcyclists who mix drinking and riding, and ownership of the Harley Davidson brand. There's no getting around it, I see it over and over.

That said, two of the guys I work with ride Harleys, and they are some of the most responsible riders I know.

I ride with the Southern cruisers quite often. Believe me when I say that the majority of motorcycles in that crowd are not Harleys. When they stop for lunch enroute, I'll give you three guesses as to where they will be taking their lunchtime meal. It's Pub 1, Pub 2, Pub 3, Take yer pick........ Maybe they tend to have the Harley guys park nearest the road.

One of the members died last year in a motorcycle crash -- he hit a bridge -- this happened about 11:00 pm after he'd spent the afternoon and evening in a bar. He had the emblems removed from his v-star (like so many do) You might have thought it was a Harley had you driven past it in the dim light.

So I think the shoe fits all, metric or other.

BTW. When we stop at a pub, I don't have a beer or any other drink. It don't matter if I'm in my pickup or on my bike. If I'm at the controls, I don't drink.....

just because you own a Harley don't mean ur better than everybody else, I can understand Harley riders don't wanta be seen with anybody riding a japanese bike, or if I stop at a bar or a resturuant and I happen to park my japanese bike next to a Harley I get called some 4 letter word name, or if I just happen to walk into a business that sells motorcycle assessories I understand im not welcome there, soooo if I see you out along the road with a broken down Harley, I hope you understand why I didn't stop and help, what comes around goes around.

Understand? Maybe. Sympathize? Sorry, no. If I see a bike down, I need to know the rider's OK. No matter what brand it is. If they're well enough (and dumb enough) to insult my ride, then I guess they're OK and don't need assistance.

Earlier on the same ride yesterday we came upon an ATV on its side in Chatsworth. Also, eight or so state police cars, four ambulances, and a medevac chopper landed with the turbine shut down. Not a good scene, I typically don't see medevacs shut down if there's someone to transport. I fear we lost an ATV rider yesterday.

Gotta agree with Gummi, here. There seems to be a bad cruiser-rider stereotype cropping up around here lately regarding the mixing of bikes and booze. Around here, I don't see too many riders of any type of bike drinking and riding, but of those that do it's definitely an even mix of all types of riders and bikes. Perhaps it's a regional thing, because a lot of the West Coasters here also claim it's the crotch-rocket crowd running around without gear, yet here in Ohio it's the exact opposite. I'd be willing to bet 19-out-of-20 sport bike owners wear full gear while easily 9-outta-10 cruiser riders go without.

Let's not be careless about generalizations, especially ones that are so negative.

If he was drinking, you just have just left him on the side of the road with no way to get the bike up, at least he wouldn't be riding it...

It only takes a few people to ruin the image of the entire group... that goes for any group

When im riding and I see a Harley broken down along the side of the road I start laughing and pointing HA HA HA and I use the biker body language everybody understands by kicking my leg out like im kicking over ur bike, but I will stop and help my fellow japanese bikers

First off, let me say that I don't get mad often, and I don't tell people off often. But you're just a "procreating" "O Ring".

1. There is a thing called compassion, if you see a rider on the street, you should help them if you can, no matter what you or they are riding.

2. Your posts are so hipocritical it amazes me. You keep talking about how bad Harley riders are, because they treat you differently because you don't ride a Harley. You do the same damn thing, but worse. Saying you would help someone on a japanese bike, but not a harley, is being just as bad as you are saying harley riders are.

3. I have never once had, or heard of, a Harley rider cuss at, or insult someone for parking a japanese bike next to them.

4. No matter what you think, you're the the "best" or "coolest" rider. You've made numerous posts bragging about how wonderful you are, nobody believes you, or if they do believe you, it's because they don't care enough about your useless posts to make a judgement

5. I think you're a troll, maybe you're the same person as King Frog, and just made multiple accounts. If you're not a troll, you still should leave the boards, because nobody wants to listen to your constant negativity, and insults.
