I say this because we have many dirtbikers on the forum who have made the move to streetbiking and love it to. If you wanted something similar to a dirtbike you should have gotten a sportbike, or something similar. A pro like yourself could have run the hell out of it.

Speaking of which how does "an almost pro" dirtbiker not know a single thing about fixing a bike. One would think that all the maintenance you'd have to do on a race bike would at least enable you to diagnose the problems on your street bike (which sounds like a short somewhere...).

Then again, something tells me you don't even own a bike.

I went out on a ATV Poker Run yesterday, there was 750 people there, this is the first time I have been around and associated with ATV Owners and what surprized me is everybody was nice and friendly. I have been on tons of motorcycle poker runs, bike shows and most fellow bikers I meet are not friendly, its like the Harley Guys and the crotch rocket guys only talk to their own kind or don't come near me cause ur not dressed like a biker or no tatoos or you ride a moped. I was thinking about that what I came up with is the ATV Guys were smiling and having fun thats why they were nice and friendly, but everytime I see a bunch of bikers together they have a scowl on their face, they are not having fun. I mean what fun is it when ur out riding on the road and a semi is tailgatting you at 85mph or some 90 year old lady driving a Buick pulls out in front of you? It don't feel fun or feel safe riding a bike on the road, at least when you crash ur ATV ur only going 20 mph. I wanted to fit in and be a biker, travel all over, have fun, its no fun anymore.

I always have fun.. and so does my riding group of 2 sportbike riders, 2 cruiser riders, and myself. But I'm sure we actually all hate each other.

Anyways, does this mean you will start frequenting ATV forums instead? You could tell them how crappy motorcycles are, and how no one has fun on them ever!! It is all just a marketing ploy. Make sure to tell them how horrible they handle too... you know, based on your significant "professional" status, and buying a bike based on fitting in with the cruiser crowd.

No streetbike has the same instantanious reactions as a motocrosser. They are 2 very different animals made for use in very, very different conditions. Geometery that is tight and short, less than half the weight, light, fast reving engines, suspension that allows rapid and radical geometery changes with control inputs..... motocrossers are race bikes for racing in tight, changing terrain. Road bikes(even racing ones) are made for smooth, faster ground. With pavement. Totally different enviroments.

Street bikes are a very different kind of experiance compared to dirtbikes. And there are traffic laws and cages and the like to deal with. You can't go balls to the wall on one like you can on a dirtbike. The Law or the Laws Of Averages will get you sooner or later. But you can still have some good fun and cheap thrills on a streetbike, just a different style.

As for buying a cruiser...... that one has me scratching my head....

being a newb on the site even I am beginning to think your full of "poo poo"... When I had my cbr beit it was a long time ago every one was friendly regardless harley/crotch rocket... When I bought my scooter a few months back I would pull up to a light and even bikers would nod and say hello... Not to mention all the Vespa riders in the city...

Now that I am getting back into it I went for a ride with a a riend yesterday to long Island.... me on my shadow and my friend on a sport bike triumph 675.. We pulled into a lot with all japanese crotch rockets... Everybody was nice to us, even though I had a cruisers... Then a few guys pulled in on a duc and a Buell also nothing but nice to us...

I think you just have no friends...

I find things are mostly the same, I ride with two guys on cruisers, I'm on a sporty looking standard and mot everyone waves at each other. We pull into the local biker hang outs and no one snubs us, no one laughs, and no one ignores us.

I love that bikers are bikers are bikers. Sure there are some anti-social "O Ring" posers out there... but that's true in any environment.
