I just wanted to personally thank everyone in the forum for their well wishes and support. And while my poor "Sparky" got a little banged up she's gonna be fine. As a matter of fact most of the scratches on her front were just galvanizing from the fence.....which I might add didn't fair as well as either myself or Sparky. I'm for once thankful for the extra....*padding* that I have on my person and quite glad I wasn't my usual 120 boney self. And can't say how happy my elbows are for the armor in my jacket.......too bad I hadn't bought the pants yet. Oh well, jeans are sooo fixable and now they'll have as much character as me. Thank god I know my way around a sewing machine far better than I do my bike at this current point in time. I also want to thank my mother for the years of training in bouncing when coming off a horse. It turns out I still bounce almost as well as I did when I was a teen. As you can tell, I've decided to laugh at it now rather than years from now. I've learned that (damn it all to hell) I am human and do have physical limitations. Next time I'll listen to Gadjet and call it quits when I'm getting tired. Apparently I am not "Wonderwoman", live and learn. I did find out that, I can pick my bike up by myself, after I had dropped it for the third time I just bent down and picked her up. No way was I gonna let Gadjet do it again. And as for fear......no way....even with the crash I had an absolute blast!! My own damn fault for not listening to Gadjet and my tired bod, I'll know for when I get back on. Which would have been today if poor Sparky had been up to it. And according to family and friends....I have a hell of a stubborn streak cuz I didn't want to leave my poor little Sparky until the tow truck got there. I was forced to get in a vehicle and be driven home however by heads a little more coherent than mine. All in all it was an awesome day with a very valuable lesson learned. Don't ride tired and hungry and muscle fatigued with a brain not firing on all 8 cylinders, because bikes aren't as forgiving as a horse or a car. I have plenty of pretty purple and black bruises showing up everywhere to prove that point too. I am however feeling great and even managed to lift some weights today..............I know....... I was told not to. Selective hearing and a "wonderwoman" complex, not the best of combinations. I think the thing most bruised though, would be my pride and my ego, sitting on my porch watching my poor Sparky being driven home in shame on the back of a tow truck. How ignominious. She's a tough little bike though and took a hell of a beating yesterday and is still sitting pretty and just as impatient as I am to get back out there. Once again thank you all so much for you warm thoughts and support. I'm so glad Gadjet introduced me to this place. The people here are of the finest kind.......real. Thank you all and ride well!

Sorry to hear about your little mishap! Good thing it was in a parking lot...now if you drop you bike at a standstill, or ding it up a little, no worries...its that first one that hurts the most, besides, bikes can always be fixed. Don't let the accident get you down. I've been riding for about 2 months and had 2 little incidents but...it just makes you want to practice more so that it never happens again...as you know, wrecking sucks! Good luck with future practices and we'll see ya on the road soon!

This thread should be a sticky.

Glad you're still all OK. The bike can be fixed. Just hop back on her. :P

Glad to hear everything is okay. I had a similar experience, except my bike didn't actually go down. Instead, I was pulling out of the parking lot where I was practicing (first day I got my bike, last year) and it too became possesed and lurched towards the curb. I to this day haven't determined exactly what I did. :? What I do remember is when I finally came to a complete stop, I was inches away from the bumper of a car. I looked up and saw 2 horrified old people. I live in a small town, so of course I ended up knowing them, we chatted and off I went. I figured it was time to go home.

So, at least you know your not alone. It happens to the best of us, and heck, that was a year ago for me. It has been plenty of awesome rides since that time. So get back on and have some fun, cuz there is plenty to be had!! Glad your all right, and that you have a good attitude about it all. Keep the rubber side down, shiny side up from now on.

Glad to hear you weren't seriously injured. Shame that it was a brand new bike, but like was said before, now you won't be so upset if it happens to get dinged again(hopefully it won't).

It looks real nice though. I like the black wheels a lot - I've got the red/black '02 EX500 and I'd like to have black wheels for it, too.

Sorry to hear about the mishap and glad she's OK.

You mentioned that she was wearing "full gear" and then mentioned that she tore her jeans. I don't consider jeans to be part of full gear. They have very little abrasion protection and no armor or padding. She might want to consider getting a pair of leather or textile motorcycle pants.
