My trip to the motorcycle dealer

dumb noob question:

when you sit on bikes to get a feel for them do you just straddle it and put one foot up at time? lean on the sidestand with both feet up? or does the dealer put it on a stand to keep it upright for you with both feet up?

I went to a "ghettoish dealer" in north east philly, and found several bikes i've really wanted to sit on.

never heard of em puttting it on a stand, but many will hold it for ya so ya can get two feet up, when i go i useally have then hold it up, only way to see how well it really fits otherwise.

If you really love a bike, but not the seat check out the aftermarket options and not give up on the bike because many of the stock seats suck!

I hear yah. But if you're referring to the SV1000, it's more than the seat that's no good for me. Who knows, if I loose enough weight by the time i'm ready to ride/afford one, it may fit better.

Looks like you're in my neck of the woods. Which dealer did you go to? We always look forward to Thursday so we can check out the cycles section in Uncle Henry's.

Central Maine Powersports. Big "O Ring" place in Lewiston/Auburn. One's a Yami/Honda, other building is Harley. And i have a online subscription to uncle henry's, it's free for a little while.

Sidestand down, feet up, if I can.

Super Hawk 1100: I liked it, but the boys disagreed. Little cramped, wouldn't want to ride it more than 30 mins i bet.

There were a few others, but i remeber these best. I'm so close to a moto, i can taste it. I need to go look at this FZR some time this week though.

If the boys disagreed with the Superchicken there going to love that FZR

Good choice. I'd give the 650 a try though. I tried them both back to back and prefered the 650 much more than the thou....

Is the overall size comparativly smaller? It (the 1k) felt good to sit on, but WAS rather large. Would like something semi sporty. Though the V-Strom 1k isn't really that sporty, it's good enough, just that 650 (if smaller) would be better.

On another note, i REALLY wish we got cbf600's in the US.

Anyway, the bike that fits all of those things for me, and that I absolutely love...the ZRX1200, Preferably in green.
Of course I havnt been lucky enough to drive on yet, but I hope to some day. I really love this bike.

Perhaps you should ride it first.
I was out for a ride a few weeks back and one guy had a new ZRX. He liked the bike, but all day he kept on harping about how much of a pig it handled when pushed. He had already put an aftermarket steering damper on it but would not shut up about how much it wallowed and flexed its way around corners. Put me right off.

yea i agree. i wouldnt buy anything without riding it first.
