I don't have much room for any major comparisons but my vulcan's seat has been comfortable enough for me when riding, and I've ridden up to 1 hour at a time max so far. A true test would be a nice 4+ hour road trip I'd say...

Sargent makes a good seat... so does Corbin. A friend of mine swears by the Russell Day Long Saddle. There are also alternatives to dishing out three bills or more new seat. I've seen articles on gels pads v. AirHawk v. Sheepskin v. beads. I've also seen a few guys shave down and customize their seat then re-cover them to make it more comfortable.

I'll likely spend an evening trying to fix my stock seat to make it more comfortable and when I screw that up, I'll tell the wife I "had" to order a nice saddle.

no offence, but maybe some of you guys are fat and that seat isn't designed for ur weight, look at the seats on dirt bikes, they are small , narrow and thin cushion, ever see a fat guy riding a dirt bike? no offence

I guarantee I outweigh some of the people who are complaining about seat comfort. No offense, but your "fat" theory is wrong.

My CX500s seat is comfortable for about an hour at which point my butt starts going numb. On the upside with its limited range I have to stop for fuel every hour of highway riding anyway, so I get lots of rest breaks.

My hands and feet go numb after 20 min of highway riding on the CX. the pegs and bars get pretty vibey at 75mph

I'm grotesquely over weight, and my seat sucks.

I have no issues whatsoever with the stock Meanstreak seat. I've ridden it 3-4 hours straight and I'm not a bit sore. Maybe I have a hard arse, but if you want pain, try those road racing bicycle seats. Those seats define new meaning to pain.

Because they are built for anyone.
So shop around when buying a bike or spend big buck on a custom seat.

The comfort of a seat should be approved by 60 year old riders after a 500 mile ride. I think that would solve every problem we could ever have with seat comfort.
