True he might not have deserved severe injuries for just being a squid, but the guy set himself up and paid the consequences. He was likely a newb and a squid who ended up (hopefully) learning the hard way.

That's not what I said - let's try this again...
What I said was... he is going to suffer the consequences for what happened. But to say he should be denied pain medication?!!! Pulease!! Do we know who is at fault for every crash in the world - Are we supposed to be so judgmental that we suggest a paramedic should not DO HIS JOB and provide the best medical care?! That's what I'm talking about.

You know, Loonette. I agree with you. Except that in this (OP's) situation, I probably would have said the same thing. Some of us are just giant no funs.

Pain is survivable, stupidity isn't. Doubt his pain would cure his stupidity, but it just might.
The best medical care involves the best healing. Pain killing is a happy by-product, but not necessary. Coming from Crunchy Granolaville you are probably accustomed to people who believe that "Less Drugs and Natural Healing" are better.
BTW, I'm sure the paramedic juiced the guy up good once he was in the ambulance.

Pain is relative. The original poster gave him medical attention, just advised the paramedic not to give him morphine to ease the pain. Honestly, I think the pain was probably good for him, taught him there are consequences to his actions. Yeah, he might have been in pain, hell even alot of pain, but, pain is going to kill him.

I see what you are saying loonette, and its not my place to make the morphine decision, i was a bit fired up thats all. he really wasnt in horrible pain though, he had a broken arm a gash on his leg and a concussion, so its not like he was missing a limb or anything. i havent talked to the medic yet, but im sure if the squid was whining they pushed some morphine on him.

Well snwbdr, that was really great that you helped that guy and rendered some first aid. I'm sure you helped to comfort him just by being there and I hope he appreciated it - you know, good turns & all

We have this saying were I work. "Love all, save all" Meaning if you start to drown I'm gonna do everything in my power to help you. If a dude has some serious injuries I would think the paramedic should do everything in his power to help him. Its not a matter if the guy was stupid or not it's your job to help.

The guy received medical care, in the long run he will heal so the Paramedics or our first aider did NOT fail to give adequate care.
The rider broke his arm, he is not dying of cancer. He is damned lucky to be alive, against that a little bit of pain for a while is no big deal and there is the remote chance that he will remember that stupid hurts now.
And yes I have broken bones, lots. It hurts but its no big deal.

A good friend of mine used to be a really stupid rider when he was younger. His first bike was an F3 and he would ride the "pee" out of it. He never wore any gear, not even a helmet. He was flying through his neighborhood one day, and the rear brake line had worn a small hole in itself from the edge of the back tire. When he went for the brake, it sprayed brake fluid all over his back tire. He paniced and went for the front brake. He did an endo and came over the handlebars and smacked his head on a large rock in someone's front yard. Again, no helmet. We saw it happen so we ran over to him and made him lie still until medics arrived. They took him to the hospital and he turned out ok with some mild roadrash and a minor concussion. After that, he always wears gear. Sometimes, a little pain is all you need to really teach yourself a lesson.
I have been fortunate enough to have never had an incident like that. I watched this medical show one day where this guy was doing 80mph on his Harley and lost control and took out a guard rail, with his body. They brought him into the hospital in peices. His foot still in his shoe but not attached to his leg. Lost both arms. After seeing that, I always wear gear.
