We should vandalize all speed signs then.
No, just the cameras.

I have to agree. It's not that hard to go the speed limit, and if you choose not to, there's really no grounds for complaining about a ticket.

Then again, can't they use those things and give tickets to people going too slow and blocking traffic?

The main reason the cameras should be vandelized and taken down because it is just a form of the government becoming big brother. Excuse me if I don't want cameras watching my every move. Plus if you actually went to that webpage and read it, you would see how the government get drivers in speed traps and try to hide the cameras. Cameras to catch people who run red lights is mentally challenged also, since it is just for money making purposes. I can take my front license plate off or cover my face while running a red light and not get a fine, but someone who is honest will get a big ticket. They also cause more accidents, and some towns like baltimore have shortened the amber light to get more tickets. It is just a big scam to make more money. If there were those cameras where I lived, I would break them too.

-Edit: I'm not against cops giving tickets to people as there is an actual person watching and giving the ticket. Screw the cameras and the government.

Its not a scam, it frees up police to go after the drug dealers and what not. amber lights, they mean STOP. they dont mean "slam on the gas and squeek through"

Im with CNF on it, you choose to break the speed law and get caught (either by a camera or a cop with a radar gun, *side note Whats the difference between the two?) you eat the fine. suck it up princess.

You don't get it, do you, and amber does not mean stop buddy. That is what red means. You think it is fair for the city to lower speed limits and put cameras on straight roads? We won't need to raise taxes as we have cameras to do that for us. I'm sure you guys never go above the speed limit too huh. Must be some perfect law abiding citizens I must say. I love it how the people in favor of them probably don't live in the neighborhoods that have the cameras

I've said before, and I'll say it again. I exceed the posted limit from time to time and I accept a ticket and my responsablity for going over the limit. I am not an unsafe rider though, so I'd pay because the laws aren't going to change to allow me to ride safe fast and some other guy like a maniac. Speed plays into accidents, but it doesn't cause accidents. I just don't like them trapping people where mistakes are easily made. That becomes a revenue issue for the police, not enforcing public safety.

You are correct when you say, pay up if you break the law, but can't you see they are often trying to take advantage of a situation that makes little sense. There are places where the speed limit makes little sense, and those are the place they show on the website with the broken cameras. Would I vandalize a speed camera? No. I also think if you got busted wrecking one, you'd get what you deserve. At the same time a small part of my soul rejoices that the 'man' can't catch someone who just made a mistake.

Amber light = Stop if you are able to do so safely. some places you can get a ticket for running an amber (oregon is one)

And I will admit I do speed on the high way, I'll do 10-15 KMs over the limit. But if I get a ticket be it by a camera or a speed trap cop, its a valid fine. running lights, stop signs and what not you should get a ticket. its that simple. they are there for a reason.
