i didn't say it was a plus. im just saying it like the GS500F and EX500. looks sporty but not really a sportbike. they're more like standards w/ full fairings.

so whether or not it a postive or negative... that all depends on each person.

to me, i like the aggressive riding postion so it's a plus to me.

i have ridden a cruiser bike and didn't enjoy the seating position. haven't tried standards though.

Wrong again, it's a sportbike. If it had clip ons it would have the sporty position. Would need a new remake of the fairings though. What makes it a NON sport bike? So i guess a ZZR-600, Kat 600, YZF600R, CBR600F4i aren't sport bikes either?

ZZR600 and the F4i is a sport bike.

basically, if the riding position is not aggressive... to me, it's a standard w/ sport style fairings.

standard position is sitting straight up. Katana does not sit straight up, same thing with the YZF600R. Despite what you think, they are sport bikes... not standards. They just aren't race replicas.

The katana and YZF aren't even sport tourers! You need an update on bike classifications or something. They are sport bikes, just not super-sport bikes.

well then i must be mistaken.

ok so those 4 you mentioned are sport bikes then.

but the GS500F and EX500 are still not.

Right, the GS500 and the EX500 are more sporty standards. They have the sporty look to attract new riders, yet give them an easier platform to learn on.

Many experienced riders also prefer more comfortable seating positions as well, which is where the GS and the Ninja attract the most people. They are a great combination of form and function. They are great commuters, but also sporty enough to have fun in the twisties.

My GS500 doesn't look sporty.



And I dont like the f models.
I like my gs the same way I like my women.....NAKED!!

i have no doubt that the GS500F and EX500 can be fun in the twisties.

i just prefer the aggressive riding position of sportbikes.

cafe racers are starting to appeal to me.... i'd like to have one of these...
