Mesh pants lets almost all of air pass through. Look at the weave on mesh pants and compare it to the weave on jeans to show how silly that statement is.
Did you miss the 'I find' in that sentence? I'm speaking from experience. Your experience may vary, but I found the jeans cooler while stuck in town in traffic. At slow speeds air doesn't actually penetrate the several layers of mesh very well. And still air is the best insulator you'll find short of a vacuum. At highway speeds, sure the mesh is cooler, but the jeans are plenty cool too.

And as I indicated it's a comfort/convenience trade-off vs safety. I never said the jeans were as safe as full pants, they aren't. By that same token however mesh pants aren't as safe as leather, and two piece leather isn't as safe as a one piece. By your logic I might as well wear flip-flops and a wife beater if I can't wear a full racing suit. Or do you actually conceed to comfort enough to wear mesh pants insteand of a one piece suit it the summer?

Well I want the draggin' jeans because I can wear them to work without having to change. And they have a set of draggin' jeans that have mesh flowthroughs to get air to your crotch and surrounding area. I will be getting a pair of riding pants but the jeans are cheap enough that I can get two pairs to wear when I ride to work.

where are you getting them? Most jeans pants I've seen are like $70+ a pair... you can get the Joe Rocket mesh pants for $140 or less (same as two pairs of jeans) and other mesh pants sell for $110 or so.

Dunno where you work, but where I work it is no problem to take off a pair of overpants and stash them.

I have no problem with taking them off and stashing them, I just didn't feel like it, also, I would like the jeans for just travelling and going to school. When I start going to school with a full backpack it'll be easier just to wear the jeans than to try and find a place to stash the riding pants.

I havn't actually priced out any riding pants, so I was only guessing about the 2 jeans = 1 riding pants thing.

Carrying riding pants around at school would suck... but those draggin jeans are expensive. I checked their website and they want $90 to $100 a pair! :( Dunno where you can buy 'em cheaper, but hopefully you can.

Biggest problem with the overpants is it's real tempting not to put them on for a "quick ride"...

Good luck anyway... the jacket is sweet.

Yeah I agree with you there. Leather is one hell of a material.

That's true, they do beat regular jeans. But not by much.
What exactly do you base that on?

An article I saw in a motorcycle magazine once. They did drag tests of various materials. Kevlar lined jeans didn't fare much better than ordinary jeans, and were far worse than leather.
