the old CX500 never made that ticking (damn watercooled engine

). that ticking from an aircooled engine is pretty cool (the bandit sure as hell does it)

while my svs has a nice voice, I prefer either very agressive or very smooth music. the mix and dichotomy of the two in the same ride makes it nice. Then again I do ride MUCH more agressively when metallica or godsmack runs through my veins....

I dont think theres any problem with riding with music as long as you can still hear everything around you, and as long as you dont fiddle with the mp3 player while you're riding.

Saw these whilst browsing around:

They may be right up your alley and they're much cheaper than the Oakley sunglasses of equivalent memory space.

Yeah I ride with music on my commute...about 45 minutes highway each way.
I have my Ipod nano and I bought some Shure noise isolating headphones ($100) and they work great. They work like regular ear plugs, blocking about 20 decibals. Then I replace that with music...I usually have the volume set to about 1/3 full. And I turn the ipod off when in the city or traffic, only turn it on when on highway.
Makes the trips great.
I know its illegal, but my bike has so much chrome and prettyness that if they are looking they still don't notice (least not yet).
In fact I rode by two police officers at about 6mph directing traffic and both looked right at me as I went by, even nodding, but neither caught the little black lines running down my neck into my jacket.
And I figure if they didn't, some cop passing me on the highway won't.
And I usually listen to all kinds of rock.

I know its illegal....at least down here in FL. but, I commute 88 miles each way to work and I NEED the music...if I forget to charge my battery and don't have tunes for the ride it kills me!!!
If you do have tunes...what do you listen to?......
me? I have a ton of reggae in my MP3 player....lots of Matisiyahu and some oldschool dancehall....all mixed with some rock...hehe
Nice choice in music I have seen Matisiyahu live in concert great show.

If I'm at anything above 25mph or 4,500rpm I can't hear horns, sirens, etc so I don't think music would matter all that much.
I will come up to a green light and everyone is stopped and I'm like wtf, then I realize I can't hear the sirens of an ambulance or see it either.
With that in mind, I don't ride with my MP3, I prefer listening to the I3 or the V-twin.
