What do you guys think of the M50

Really? I thought fuel ignition were easy to start on cold mornings I am such a newbie.

I could not hear the m50 running, you said it sounds pretty sweet?

how long is the break in period?

Your really helping me. Keep it up

Uh, fuel injection is easy to start on cold mornings. It is the carbed bikes that are not as easy to start.

well that one guy said there really was no difference between FI and carbs unless your going to do modifications and its not a selling point.

I love those sweet black wheels.

Biggest argument for FI to me is if you go into mountainous regions frequently. Motorcycle carbs don't seem to have altitude compensation. Fuel injection systems should automatically compensate.

not much of that in wisconsin, what we do get here and FI is a blessing with, is starting in cold weather, no worries about choking, just hit the start button and go.

I, myself, am not real "big" on really L-O-U-D pipes. It has a nice, low baritone note. What's really good is, when you're sitting in the parking lot and someone wants to "hear you start it up", you can start it up, rev it a few time, then let it idle back down and you can still talk at a normal level without having to holler over the sound of your freaking bike.
As you get on it, there's nice *wehhh-AHHHHH, *shift* wehhhh-AHHHH *shift*, wehhh-ahhhhhh, etc...* as you're going through the gears. A couple of friends of mine, who don't currently have bikes, but have ridden a lot in the past, love the sound.
A few people that have the bike, but aren't happy with the sound, have debaffled the exhaust to make it a bit louder.

Personally, I don't think you'll be disappointed at all. One thing, though...it's rather "loud" clanking from 2nd into 1st, but other than that, it's fine with me. Actually, that extra-loud *clank* sort of helps me know I'm in 1st.
The blacked-out engine and black rims are GREAT! I'd like to see some nice, chrome custom wheels on it, though...just to see what it'd look like.

With the fuel injection, I am able to start it and go on the really cold mornings, but I still give the engine, itself, a little time to get warmed up before I really "get on it". Don't know that you have to, but I try to baby my cars that way, too.
I've had it up to about 90 on the interstate with NO PROBLEM. What's sad is, it felt sturdier at 90 than it does at 45!

I think it's a good sized bike. It's big enough to "get you in trouble", big enough to not get knocked around too much from wind (I still get a bit of a bump when semis go by at 65-70 mph in the lane coming towards me), but not so big you feel like you've got your legs around a freighter trying to manuever around.

One, other, quick thing...the 2007's have a fuel gauge, I believe, so you're not just left with an "idiot light".

Plus i have to start it up at 6am to go to work when everyone is sleeping.

Sounds like a bike for me. When are 2007's availble?

Yeah, I head out every morning about 5:30-5:45, so I don't want to wake anyone up (mainly my son!) before they're ready. It is a nice, calm sound...until you get on it.

I'm not positive, but I think the 07's may be out around late August/early September. I'm trying to think of when I was looking around last year. I couldn't find a 650 Custom around that time, and around September the new color scheme came out. I liked the 2005 VStar 650 color scheme (blue with blue ghost flames) more than the '06 VStar, so that also helped with my choice...and the fact I could get a new '05 M50 for about the same price as a brand new '06 VStar.
