I keep track of my milage and gas in both my bike and The Magic Bus . I have found that 76 premium gives me the best gas milage .
Once again just my 2¢ worth .

Since I just moved back up to Northern California for the summer; I get my gas at a Fred Meyer up in Oregon. Non-California gas is soooo much better. All those additives that they put in gas in Cali can suck my butt.

On my last two tanks (1 from CA and one from OR), I got 9 mpg more on 100% gas than on the CA stuff. Mind you, this was with very similar driving on both tanks (highway mostly with a spritz of twisties)

Also, premium is 3.47 here in CA, and in OR it's 3.09 :D I like that a lot. Makes the 20 mile drive almost worth it. :frusty:

I go where ever is closest without having to push the bike.

that said, do any of your states not let you pump your own gas? I rode through new jersey last week, and I forgot how you cant pump your own gas there. I dont like some 15 year old punk spilling gas all over my tank. Do they let you pump your own gas where you live even if the law says you cant?
Just wondering. Out of the two places i went to in jersey, one of them wouldnt let me do it, and the other one handed me the pump so he could see how high my speedo went....

that brings up another thing, why the hell do teenagers always want to know how high my speedo goes? its not like that really means anything....

How are those bad? (Forget the environmental issues of MTBE for the purposes of this discussion.)

Gas mileage isn't as good.

Most people that are pumping the gas aren't very young, imo. From what I've seen, since I live in NJ, if you have a motorcycle, the gas pumper will let you pump your gas. With a car, they always do the pumping. Oh with your motorcycle, don't just start pumping your gas. Let the guy hand you the nozzle, as he is doing you the favor.

The "oxygenated" fuels contain less energy per unit of volume. Pure gasoline is approx. 125KBTU/US gal, "oxygenated" fuel contains about 120KBTU/gal. That means you get 4% less energy (and consequently 4% fewer miles) per gallon.

That's not the magnitude of difference some on this thread have cited... but it is a real difference.

EDIT: BTW: In California you can always pump your own gas... it is safer and easier for everyone. Hard to imagine there are still states where you aren't allowed to pump your own gas.
