Do you wave to every cop? I could see how that might be a good way to be. If you give friendly gestures to offiicers you see it may make them feel appreciated more. This could result in less traffic tickets, not that I have a problem with getting those.

i wave to every emergency services vehicle i see as a form of respect. same as in the old days in my car when i would see the convoy of vehicles heading to the air base, i'd wave to them all.

sometimes i get a wave back from them but i don't expect it. out of the five cops i know, i think 4 of them ride and i helped teach another this spring.

I waved at two officers yesterday (Sheriff Dep & State Trooper at a construction area) Both were very cool and acknowledged with a nod or wave back.

I think it's a good idea for law enforcement to remember you from a wave. Might just be the difference between a ticket and a warning later on.

I usually get waves from bike cops if they aren't busy lookin' for something to pull over. I was stuck in downtown traffic the other day and rode about 5 blocks side by side with a PDX Motor Cop. We talked about bikes and how freakin' great his job is. He got distracted by a guy nearly hitting a pedestrian and then pulling into the wrong lane while blowing a yellow-to-red light in front of the cop. He bid me a kind farewell and pulled the guy over.

I waved to a couple of cops sitting in their car once and got nothing but two blank stares in return. Mind you, it was in the middle of January and there was 5cm of slush on the streets when I went by them on my Ural. Guess I just wasn't in their frame of reference that day.

This sounds like a road-racer buddy that I have. Before each race he goes over to introduce himself to the ambulance driver. It's good to have an existing relationship with the guy who might been mopping your parts up off the track.... Strange, but true

Once live in Orlando and drove to Pencacola to buy a bike. Saw it, bought it, called the insurance company and drove, it 5-600 miles with out a licence plate. was doing 90 down the highway and my friend was driving my car. all of the sudden he pulls out of the fast lane and slows look in the mirror and a cop has come up on us out of nowhere. How fast was he going. Buck 10? Buck 20? So he comes up on me. Jocking back and forth thinking about pulling over the guy with no tag. So i Turned and just wave to him. He drove of. Rock on back to 90 2 minutes later. Had to make class at 6pm.

I was on my way to work this A.M when a county cop riding a bike came out of nowhere. I saw him about half a mile back and I was speeding at the time so I dropped it to just 5 over.

He eventually made it up to me. I waved to him before he pulled alongside me and then I looked over and he gave me a wave before he continued on. Pretty cool cop, I don't even have tags on my bike since I'm waiting up to 90 days for my custom tag to be mailed in.
