My fateful day with a city bus

This is just for my info - did you add the cost of a new helmet & leather's to the bill? I mean, if I'm in an accident and they are at fault and my leather's are all torn to shreds and my helmet scraped the ground - I think it's only fair they should foot the bill for $500 in leather plus say another $200-$500 for the helmet. Why should I have to dish that out for someone else's mistake? Knowing insurance compainies, they wont pay that, but I'm wondering what you all have done in similar situations? Comments?
